Meet our Board

The South Waikato YMCA Governance Board is a dedicated team of professionals with diverse expertise, united by a shared commitment to empowering youth and strengthening our community. With extensive experience across education, public health, social work, risk management, and asset development, our board members bring invaluable knowledge and passion to their roles. Together, they ensure the YMCA continues to deliver high-quality programs and services that inspire growth, leadership, and positive change for all.

Chair

Arama Ngapo

Arama volunteered with the organization for over 20 years, bringing exceptional leadership and expertise. A seasoned lawyer and former South Waikato District Councillor (2016–2022), she is deeply committed to community development. Arama continues to inspire positive change through their dedication to youth programs and governance excellence.

Vice-Chair

Andrew McFadyen

Andrew joined the South Waikato YMCA Board in 2023, bringing extensive expertise in risk management, health and safety, and compliance. His knowledge and strategic approach strengthen the YMCA’s commitment to maintaining safe and effective operations, supporting the wellbeing of staff and the community.

Trustee

Lizzy Daniels

Lizzy has been a dedicated member of the South Waikato YMCA Board for over 20 years, volunteering across numerous programs and services. As an Oranga Tamariki Social Worker, she brings invaluable expertise and insights to the team. With over 40 years of governance experience across local, regional, and national boards, Lizzy is a passionate advocate for youth and community development.

Tereapii Solomon

Tereapii, a dedicated school teacher with a Master’s in Education, has been teaching at Tokoroa High School since 2009. She has supported YMCA staff since 2018, helping develop and implement effective educational pedagogy. Her expertise in education enriches the YMCA’s programs and commitment to youth development

Steve Percival

Steve has been with the South Waikato YMCA since 2018, dedicating his efforts to the upkeep and development of Camp Park Lee. With a strong focus on health and safety and asset management, his work has led to significant renovations at the camp. A passionate outdoorsman, Steve’s commitment ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all who engage.

Mereaumate Vano

Mereaumate has been a valued member of the South Waikato YMCA Board since 2018, bringing significant community connections and expertise. Employed at Te Whatu Ora in the Public Health Unit, her experience strengthens the YMCA’s focus on health and wellbeing initiatives. Mereaumate’s dedication to community support is integral to the YMCA’s mission.
